Broes is an economist, and has a history of responsibilities in change management and the implementation of regulatory frameworks in Banking - Compliance and Risk. Broes worked in Private Banking, Asset Management, Captive Financing and Investment Banking. He is focusing on the revolution to a carbon-neutral economy, and the connected Climate and Environmental risk management challenges.

Seeing how physical and transitional shifts linked to the climate crisis are changing the variables for companies, Broes linked these early on with his expertise in Non-Financial Risks. Also driven by personal interest in sustainability and the increased attention by the financial supervisor (ECB), he took up a risk management role that is solely focussed on ESG and Climate & Environment. Today, Broes is providing oversight over the integration of ESG / Climate & Environment in the Risk Management Framework of LeasePlan and the practical implementation into strategic actions.
