Encompassing an awards programme, a forum and a series of webinar sessions, the Women in Governance, Risk and Compliance Series’ mission is to provide a platform to recognise, celebrate and support women across GRC sectors, champion their peers and advocates, and help foster the next generation of GRC business leaders.
However, far more than just an award programme and conference, the Women in Governance, Risk and Compliance Series will be a year round community for women of all backgrounds and their peers to support, collaborate and encourage via a number of content initiatives that will take place throughout the year.
There is no denying that 2021 was a challenging year for us all, and research from the Fawcett Society shows that the pandemic has had a ‘devastating’ impact on gender equality in the workplace but there are ‘signs of hope’. We believe that there has never been a more important time to champion women, and we are making it our mission to create a supportive and engaged ecosystem for women in business.
Studies suggest that in 2020, only 5% of FTSE 100 CEOs are women. The FTSE 250 is even further behind, with just 2%. Furthermore, 7% of Fortune 500 CEOs are women.
This is your opportunity to be at the forefront of our movement to change these statistics and be part of the debate, celebrating, championing and changing the working world for women.
We have made it our mission to create a platform for women in Governance, Risk and Compliance to be recognised, celebrated and supported by their peers, and this is your opportunity to help set the precedent and be part of the change, showing your workforce through action that equality matters.
However, this initiative is not only about supporting those already working within GRC - we are also on a mission to support the next generation of GRC leaders.
These Awards showcase the role models, advocates and mentors, as well as the inspirational women and companies building and leading in the world of GRC.
The Awards will unite the whole GRC ecosystem – those who make it their business to inspire females working within the sector across the globe.
Focusing on the key areas of leadership, the role of HR in business and career progression, the Women in Governance, Risk and Compliance Forum will provide a platform to challenge the status quo for women in GRC and help lead the charge in changing these statistics.
With research from the PwC Women in Technology research study showing that only 27% of female respondents would consider a career in Technology, compared to 62% of males, and only 22% of respondents able to name a famous woman in the tech industry, there is a clear need for a platform to encourage and inspire the next generation of feamle leaders.
The 2021 Forum had three core themes: Female leaders, HR’s role in business and Career development, focussing on the challenges faced by women when climbing the leadership ladder, how to overcome these challenges, how to build confidence and paving out careers as a future female leader in GRC sectors.
