Chief Sustainability Officer and Global Head of Corporate Responsibility, RELX

 Márcia is founding Chief Sustainability Officer and Global Head of Corporate Responsibility at RELX, a global provider of information-based analytics, decision tools and events with 36,500+ people and operations in 40 countries.

Engaging colleagues throughout the business, she works to ensure RELX’s extra-financial performance furthers competitive advantage and stakeholder confidence. Driving practice that ensures recognition for RELX as a sustainability leader, the company is currently 2nd in Sustainalytics’ ranking of the media sector among 297 global sector peers; holds a AAA ESG rating for an eighth consecutive year with MSCI; and is 5th in the Responsibility100 Index which ranks the FTSE 100 on sustainability.

She is a board member of the Foundation for the (UN) Global Compact and a founding board member of the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens. She is also founding director of London museum and educational facility Benjamin Franklin House.

A Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, she holds an MA in International Relations from the University of Chicago, and a PHD in Economic History from the London School of Economics. She is a Member of the British Empire (MBE), an honour presented to her by the King, and lives in London with her husband and two sons.
