Data Protection Officer, Ohpen

Jan Verberne is a privacy professional born and raised in New Zealand and living in Amsterdam.

He is currently the Data Protection Officer at Ohpen, a Dutch cloud-native core banking scale-up, where he is responsible for leading its privacy and data protection programme.

Before joining Ohpen, Jan led the privacy team at ASB, one of New Zealand’s largest banks, and has experience consulting in both the public and private sectors. In a previous life, he worked in corporate law, advising on mergers and acquisition and capital markets activity.

Jan has a particular interest in the connection between privacy and data ethics, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies. He is a qualified lawyer in New Zealand and holds CIPM and CIPP/E certifications.
