Calissa Palmer is a professional in the field of regulatory compliance and data protection, possessing over 16 years of comprehensive experience spanning the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Her career includes positions at the Charity Commission, Metropolitan Police Service, the National Lottery Heritage Fund, and the Transport for London Policing Directorate, where she has excelled in managing intricate regulatory frameworks and elevating data protection protocols.

Currently serving as the Deputy Data Protection Officer at Slough Borough Council, Calissa has played a crucial role in refining compliance measures to adhere to personal data protection laws, thus reinforcing her dedication to the integrity of information governance.

A perpetual advocate for professional development, Calissa is pursuing an LLM in Data Protection and Intellectual Property, her studies focus on the intersection between data privacy, data protection laws, and artificial intelligence. She has also completed the Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) and the Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) trainings.

Returning for a second year as a judge at the Women in Governance, Risk, and Compliance Awards, Calissa contributes her vast experience, strategic perspectives, and fervent support for excellence and integrity in governance and compliance.

Outside of work, Calissa is also a screenwriter, playwright, Poet and Storyteller, with a Master of Arts in Screenwriting for Film and Television, Calissa has not only honed her craft but has also earned notable recognition in competitions such as the Los Angeles International Screenplay Awards Diversity Initiative IV, Filmmatic Sci-Fi/Fantasy Awards, the Script2Comic Awards, and the Scriptopolooza Screenplay Awards and in addition is a 2023 Obsidian Poetry Fellow.
