Stephan Trenker

Stephan is a Senior Associate Tech Consultant at DataCo GmbH, advising organisations on information security, regulatory compliance and the implementation of effective information security management systems. He specialises in ISO/IEC 27001, TISAX and NIS2, supporting clients both as an information security expert and external Information Security Officer. Stephan combines legal expertise with a practical understanding of technology and governance, enabling him to translate complex regulatory and organisational requirements into proportionate controls, sustainable processes and actionable improvement measures. His work includes auditing information security management systems as well as contributing to internal initiatives focused on the use of artificial intelligence, operational efficiency, and the standardisation of consulting and audit processes.

Prior to specialising in information security, Stephan worked in privacy, regulatory enforcement and legal practice, including roles as a Privacy Consultant, as a legal officer at the Austrian Data Protection Authority, and in banking and commercial law environments. He also teaches introductory courses at the University of Vienna, covering the fundamentals of programming, AI-supported development and workflow automation. Stephan holds a law degree from the University of Vienna with a specialisation in IT law and is certified as an ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer and Data Protection Officer. His interdisciplinary background allows him to bridge legal, technical and organisational perspectives and to support organisations in embedding security, compliance and responsible technology use into day-to-day operations.
