James is a compliance and surveillance technology specialist with deep expertise at the intersection of regulatory compliance and artificial intelligence. For the past five years, he has served as a Compliance Subject Matter Expert at Behavox, where he has played a pivotal role in scoping and building the Behavox AI Quantum models for communications surveillance, helping to shape next-generation tools that redefine how financial institutions detect misconduct and manage regulatory risk.
His career spans some of the most respected names in finance. As Compliance Officer at Sequoia Capital, he advised on complex regulatory matters within the venture capital landscape. Prior to that, at Deutsche Bank, he served as compliance advisor to the research department, providing guidance on conflicts of interest, information barriers, and the regulatory framework governing investment research. Earlier in his career, he led market abuse investigations, examining suspected insider dealing and manipulation, having first built his foundation as a frontline trade and communications surveillance analyst.
