Dr Ziya Meral is an expert on global trends impacting defence and security, foreign policies of Turkey and Middle Eastern countries, and religions and conflict.
Till recently, he was a Lecturer in diplomatic studies at SOAS University of London, where he convened a highly popular masters course on risk and policy analysis, Formerly, he was the Research and Programmes Director at the UK Army’s Centre for Historical Analysis and Conflict Research based at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and a Senior Associate Fellow of the Royal United Services Institute.
He is a Visiting Fellow of the Royal Navy Strategic Studies Centre and a Senior Associate Fellow of the European Leadership Network.
He holds a PhD in political science from the University of Cambridge and a MSc in Sociology from the London School of Economics.
He is currently working on a book exploring how to navigate risk in today’s complex global context.
