Former Global Chief Underwriting Officer - Direct and Indirect Cyber Risks, AXA XL, a division of AXA
Michael Colao is a senior cybersecurity and cyber underwriting executive.
He started in cybersecurity in 1988 in response to the release of the marijuana virus, one of the early computer viruses.
He has been a CISO in financial services for some twenty years, mostly in insurance and investment banking and has spent the last four and a half years as the chief underwriting officer for cyber risks for AXA XL.
He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1987 where he studied Mathematics and Computer Science.
He has since lived in three continents and has lectured globally on security technology issues.
Since 1996 has been working in Financial Technology in London.
